Ices Wyatt Hoflin named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, ON The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Wyatt Hoflin of the Kootenay Ice is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending February 22 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record including one shutout with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .968.
Hoflin made 92 saves last week backstopping the Ice to three straight victories helping the club maintain the seventh seed in the WHLs Eastern Conference playoff race. He began the week with a 17 saves in a 5-2 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Tuesday, then made 46 saves on Friday against the Edmonton Oil Kings earning first star honours in the 4-1 victory. He finished the week Saturday with a 29-save shutout performance, his third of the season, claiming first star honours for the second straight night in a 5-0 victory over the Spokane Chiefs.
Hoflin, a 20-year-old from Spruce Grove, AB, is playing in his third career WHL season with the Ice. This season he carries a 30-23-0-1 record with a goals-against-average of 3.22 and save percentage of .899.
Also considered for the award this week was Ottawa Senators draft pick Francois Brassard of the Gatineau Olympiques who won two games posting a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .966, and Carolina Hurricanes prospect Alex Nedeljkovic of the Plymouth Whalers who went 2-1-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 1..68 and save percentage of .959.
