Premier Doug Ford has blasted Simcoe County councillors for voting themselves a big pay raise. Their base salary will rise from $18,000 to about $47,000 over three years.
Councillors voted for the hike after a survey found they are paid less than their peers in other municipalities.
Council pay has not increased in 20 years.
Ford said the increase amounted to 167 per cent and suggested councillors voting on their own pay was like having a fox in a hen house.
