Barrie’s resident movie festival celebrated its 25th Anniversary this year, with another stellar lineup of unique, indie flicks from across the cinematic universe.
And the movies continue every month, with their Screen One series. Happening the first Wednesday of every month at Galaxy cinemas in the south end.
Take A Road Trip
Before we know it, it’s going to be full-on snow pants and crying every time you see the thermostat.
So, before the inevitable snow flies in the later part of the month, load up the famjam and hit one or two cool road trip destinations within striking distance of the Barrie area.

You know who is coming to town, all across Simcoe County.
After a few years in drydock, Jolly Saint Nick will make a return to Barrie, Orillia and plenty of other streets in and around the 705 area code.
Arrive early, bring a thermos of cocoa, and enjoy the parade and tree lighting ceremonies.

Purveyors of pop culture knowledge can channel their inner Ken Jennings and prove their intellectual superiority at various trivia nights in Barrie.
In Orillia, you can throw down at Kenzington every Thursday with their weekly edition of Tipsy’s Trivia General Knowledge.
In Barrie, the Queens host trivia every Thursday. Moreover, you can find skill testing competitions at the likes of Boston Pizza and Redline Brewhouse through the month.
And if singing is your jam, be sure to check out Karaoke at The Queens, CW Coops, Alliance Billiards and Cheers bar in Barrie. In Orillia, try the Lake Country Grill or Studabakers.

Ready to do the time warp again? Join Brad and Janet as they navigate the weirdness of Frank N Furter’s mansion, in a full scale production of the classic musical at the Orillia Opera House.
