OPP Marine officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment were busy issuing tickets over the past few weeks.
They were checking vessels and operators for equipment and impairment and ended up issuing four tickets for liquor-related offenses, and 11 tickets for boaters not having sufficient lifejackets on their vessel. Twenty-four other mariners were ticketed for Canada Shipping Act violations.
Between July 4th and 21st, 272 vessels and their operators were checked during 149 hours of patrols.
