WHY: Barry is the most experienced option to lead Barrie for the next four years.
➔ Barry is for protecting what makes Barrie great, such as our parks, our neighbourhoods, and our diversified economy;
➔ Barry is for preserving the level of services Barrie residents need, such as our recreation centres, our emergency services, and our transit system;
➔ Barry is for enhancing those areas where we are making progress but still fall short, such as affordable housing, infrastructure, and pedestrian safety.
WHO: Barry Ward is Barrie’s first Deputy Mayor, having gained the respect of the other members of council. He easily stepped into the mayor’s position temporarily this past spring during Mayor Jeff Lehman’s leave-of-absence.
As a long-time council member, he has served as chair of most city committees and also chaired the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit for six years. He currently serves as a city representative on Simcoe County’s committee of the whole and the Lake Simcoe Regional Airport Commission.
Over the years, he has been a Rotarian and a board member of the Lake Simcoe Regional and the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authorities, the MacLaren Art Centre, Tourism Barrie, and many other groups and organizations.
