The Ultimate Simcoe Splash Pad Guide
Water infused parks are the perfect escape with the famjam on a hot day, especially if you don’t access to a pool or a beach. And luckily, Barrie and the surrounding areas are…swimming…(we’ll pause while you groan) with aqua fountain options.
Barrie
Lampman Park
Relatively new on the scene (it opened in 2017) this full-service park features a terrific cooldown, as well as basketball and tennis courts, a baseball diamond, skate park, playground, and a gazebo. Ideal for a full afternoon of fun.
Heritage Park
Not as modern as Lampman, but still refreshing and in sight of the cooling winds off Kempenfelt Bay. Plus there are public washrooms next door, and lots of shade to sit under.
Alliston
This 3,400 square foot splash park boasts 13 water elements, and is home to the Rotary outdoor pool. Moreover, the playground includes a 12 foot climbing dome – the largest in Canada!
Cookstown
Housed at the old Cookstown Fairgrounds and next door to the library, this park offers a playground, paved patio, soccer field and tennis court. You can easily spend a full summer day here, and with libraries re-opening you can pick out a book to enjoy under the sun.
Orillia
The big O offers a slew of splash pad options, including Tudhope Memorial, nestled on the shores of Lake Couchiching. Tudhope has two baseball diamonds and the popular Moose Beach. There’s also Clayt French Park, Victoria Park, McKinnell Square and Hillcrest.
You can also check out Thornton, Tottenham and Penetanguishene’s pads, all within driving distance if you’re on a road trip!
