One of the victims of the Canadian military helicopter crash off the coast of Greece has been identified.
Abbigail Cowbrough was on board the CH-148 Cyclone when it disappeared over the Mediterranean Sea during a NATO training exercise last night.
She was an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, a Sub Lieutenant, and a member of the crew of HMCS Fredericton.
The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) says the Cyclone was deployed on board the Halifax-class frigate and all primary family members of those involved in the crash have been contacted.
Abbigail’s father wrote on FB, “I am broken and gutted. Today I lost my oldest daughter Abbigail Cowbrough in the crash involving the Cyclone from HMCS Fredericton. There are no words. You made me forever proud. I will love you always, and miss you in every moment. You are the bright light in my life taken far too soon.”

Search efforts continue with our Allies. The helicopter was operating with HMCS Fredericton as part of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG2).
