Police have charged a Ramara Township woman with murder in relation to a 2011 house fire that killed an Washago elderly man.
On April 9, 2011, emergency services were dispatched to a fire at a home on Riverdale Dr. in Washago.
The victim and lone resident of the house, 82 year old Richard Dick Humble, was taken from the building semi-conscious but badly burned and died as a result of his injuries later that day.
OPP Constable Shannon Petryshyn says an extensive investigation follow that involved Central Region Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit members, Central Region OPP Forensic Identification Services, Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario and the United States Department of Justice, Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
The investigation was under the direction of Detective Inspector Martin Graham of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.
On Monday, the OPP arrested 47 year old Margaret Lee Cole, of Ramara Township, and charged her with first-degree murder, fraud over $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
Cole was arrested in Ottawa and transported to Orillia.
